Shetland has a long history of association with Scandinavia, and many of our original designs reflect that tradition.

Sleipnir – this eight-legged charger is the chosen mount for Odin, chief of the Norse gods. This pattern was developed by Jack Rae, the original founder of Shetland Jewellery.

The Three Nornes – the three fates of Norse mythology – Urd, Verdandi and Skuld. These ladies change into swans for ease of travel. Odin consults the fates for information on the Past, Present or Future. Also designed by Jack Rae.

The Quendale Beast – A replica of a part bronze ornament found in Shetland dating from the Viking occupation.
