Collection: The Quendale Beast
Originally a large bronze horse "Harness" ornament. The head was missing when found and this part was designed by Jack Rae to complement the original Nordic piece. What remains is the sense of movement, energy, and deep connection to the sea that surrounds our islands.
Inspired by the harness that was discovered near the shores of Quendale in Shetland’s South Mainland, this collection draws from one of the most intriguing images in early Scottish art — a Pictish Beast. Carved over a thousand years ago, the creature’s flowing shape and curling form appear across Pictish stones throughout the northeast of Scotland, yet its meaning remains a mystery.
Each piece in the Quendale Beast Collection is hand-crafted in our Weisdale workshop, available in sterling silver or gold, and finished with the detail our makers are known for.
Wear it as a quiet tribute to Shetland’s ancient past, and to the wild coastline that still shapes our lives today.
