  • Shetland jewellery X Jamieson's Of Shetland

Every September, as the nights draw in and the air carries the first bite of autumn, Shetland comes alive with Wool Week. Knitters from across the globe travel to these islands at 60° North, seeking not only workshops and yarn but the wild beauty that inspires them. The moors turn golden, the seas roar against the cliffs, and in every hall and croft, needles click in rhythm with Shetland’s heartbeat. Wool Week is more than an event – it is a gathering of souls connected by wool, tradition, and the stories spun here for generations.

This year, a new story is being written. Shetland Jewellery has joined hands with Jamieson’s of Shetland, the much-loved family mill in Sandness whose yarn carries the hues of our landscape into knitters’ hands worldwide. Together, they have created a keepsake that bridges craft and memory: a silver disc, engraved on one side with Jamieson’s iconic logo, and on the other a woolly emblem to celebrate the art of knitting. Each disc comes with a coloured bulb clip, making it easy to use as a stitch marker or progress keeper – a little piece of Shetland to travel with you through every project.

For those who collect them, these markers will become tiny treasures, each one telling the tale of a Wool Week past. They are not just tools, but tokens – reminders of windswept journeys to Shetland, of evenings spent knitting by the fire, of friendships made over a shared love of wool.

With plans to release a new design each year, this collaboration celebrates the spirit of working together, of Shetland businesses joining forces to honour their shared heritage. Small though they are, these silver discs carry the weight of story, place, and memory – Shetland, distilled into silver and yarn.
